Ahem, there are some persistently-errant and objectionable assertions in the previous post which need correcting, if only to put the record straight:

First, there is no actual problem here, only a perceived one. All UHCI implementations are in accordance with the UHCI specification/standard. Quite simply, any implementation which deviates from the specification can not be called UHCI! That should be obvious.

Second, the UHCI specification/standard does NOT, and never will, allow for more than 2 ports per root hub. I have explained this previously, but the person who accuses others of not reading his/her posts should not throw stones from within a glasshouse Smile

Third, there is actually a lot of USB information out there for OS developers. It just takes a lot of patience to interpret it properly.

Fourth, it is delusional to accuse me of polluting any information. I have always provided factual help.

Fifth, OHCI was not defined before UHCI. OHCI was in fact developed to address performance issues in UHCI.

Sixth, the only errant self-congratulating fool here who has hijacked his/her own question is one BadAssinCalifonia Smile Very Happy Laughing

until you have references to an official standards document I suggest keeping your trap shut. you didn't make the USB or UHCI standard so you don't get to say shit about how they work.

I've made very high-quality comments about how the UHCI standard works, backed up by hundreds of pages of official documentation Cool
I leave the brown smelly stuff to the bad asses around here Laughing
