When was the question mark (?) introduced in the BASIC language as a shortcut for the PRINT statement ? (The ECMA-116 standard doesn't mention it.)

Should a modern day BASIC still support it ?

Well it goes back a long way, but I don't know when it was introduced.

I began programming in BASIC on a Dick Smith System 80 (TRS-80 clone) in 1980 and it supported the question mark.

It has also always been supported by GW-BASIC, at least from MSDOS version 3.3 anyway.

So yes, why not continue to support it?
