Yeah, the CALL 5 thing is so old that is it unlikely anyone uses it now. And like you say, no one seems to know that it even existed. For me I wouldn't worry about trying to be compatible with CALL 5 unless you have some strange need to run a 35 year program that has no modern equivalent.
