In 1990 (for example) people would call you crazy if wanted a desktop with that amount of memory.
Not just crazy but also very rich. Circa 1992 RAM was about NZ$100 per Mb. So 32Gb would have cost NZ$3.2million, probably about US$1,600,000 back then.

In other words, you can build a computer with 32GB of memory for less then $1000. Anyone can buy if some money is saved (including me).

Well you are right. I just checked a local computer shop for the price of 2 GB DDR3 RAM. It's about $25. Which means 32 GB is $32 x 16 = $400.

I think I better save that money to get better CPU & graphics card, though

I don't think you need more than 8 GB of RAM (2013-2014) with a decent graphics card (even if you're a gamer) and an i7 or similar.
And as for Opera, I used it when Nokia phones were at premium.

The www is usable without those memory hogging, spying, buggy, exploitable extras like JS etc..

The FASM forum is the LAST thing usable without JAWA/FLUSH crap. PS: Firefox 23 removed the "Enable JawaShit" checkbox.

Code:
  movntq eax, 0
  cdq
  movntq ds, eax;
  movntq cs, eax;
  user_pref("javascript.enabled", false);
  wrtsc
