Has anyone bought hardware that works in both Windows and Linux ?

I am looking for a USB modem.

Thanks.

Have you looked around newegg?

A quick search found me this:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=25-164-005&SortField=0&SummaryType=0&Pagesize=10&PurchaseMark=&SelectedRating=-1&VideoOnlyMark=False&VendorMark=&IsFeedbackTab=true&Page=2

It's compatible with windows 98 thru windows 8, and although it does not state that it is for Linux, some of the reviews praise it for being compatible.

reviews conflict however, some say they had to manually install the driver, others say it was instantly recognized, probably from different distros and versions...

Anyway... I recommend searching newegg and google for reviews. Good luck!

Glad it wasn't necessary to buy some new hardware.

It doesn't look like my modem will work in OpenSuse.

I ordered a $20 USB modem that works with Windows and Linux.

I am working on getting the printer to work.
Linux detects the model correctly unlike the Agere Modem.

I am still amazed that download speeds on Linux are often 10 times the speed in Windows XP.

Take care,

Andy

I hate printers. I don't hate much... but I do hate printers.
