I have written a program to download my newest creation, its working for most people who have tested it but !, my problem is as follows:

On some computers (I think only Vista) my Prog wont create a folder in the 'start menu' as in some OS' the 'start menu' is a hidden folder.

I need to create a program / start menu short cut to my App.

And before you ask, yes I have UAC manifest for admin access.
<trustInfo xmlns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:asm.v3">
<security>
<requestedPrivileges>
<requestedExecutionLevel level="requireAdministrator" uiAccess="false"/>
</requestedPrivileges>
</security>
</trustInfo>

My question is: what is the best most failsafe way to create a folder in the 'start menu' and im wondering if the SECURITY_DESCRIPTOR has something to do with it ?

I really need some help !!!

Creating a Start Menu folder for the local user should not require Administrator privileges.

You should leave the SECURITY_DESCRIPTOR as NULL to let the new folder inherit the parent's security.

Please share out the actual piece of code where you attempt to create the folder.
