i want to use mmx and sse instruction set in my new program and i was wondering if they will work on other computers with processors above pentium 2?
also will they work on 64 bit operating systems and linux?
i'm asking this cos last year i've used sse instructions in one of my programs that didn't worked on some of my friends computers and weirdly it was working on some and mine without any problem.

You can detect the support for these instructions by using CPUID and checking some bits of the result.
