Linux, *BSD, Minix, Menuet.
If you're wanting to take a kernel and write the OS around it, despite what your preconceived notions of it may be, Linux is a very reasonable option. It may be poorly designed from a software engineer's perspective, but it is, AFAIK, the only open source kernel with a real open source video card driver, Noveau. Google Linux from scratch for a tutorial on how to configure the Linux kernel to do what you want. |
