Why do you blame Windows so quickly? Perhaps it is just the - more likely culprit - lousy hardware used? Or maybe bad drivers? At least Windows has the decency to say something when it recognises things have gone wrong, rather than just crashing with no notification at all like a lot of other OSes.

Since it is clearly Win9x, user applications could also be the culprits, and because of this I'd say Windows 9x is to be blamed Very Happy

Yes indeed. This is also possible. So perhaps we can blame the underlying DOS instead?

Or, since we are throwing blame around so easily, let's just blame God. Or Satan. Or the OP. Or me. Or everyone. Well, who cares, let's just blame everyone and everything. There, problem solved. Blame has now been apportioned and the problem should now go away all by itself.

And therein lies the problem with blaming the wrong thing. You replace it (the thing you wrongly blamed) and the problem persists.

I wasn't blaming anything here I simply found it funny as it was on a site with more funny stuff.

But shit, does M$ care if a gig goes wrong because of a BSOD. They know they've already made their dough. And who uses windows 98 for a gig ? lol

Why not just use a VHS tape? hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahah

It's Nine Inch Nails, and it's not a real BSOD - it's part of their visual show.

Windows 98 was so great that a rockband featured it in it's song.

Wow, Mr. Gates must be proud.

BTW, Here is another windows "landmark" - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D3-vBBQKOYU

i never saw any BSOD since 2 or 3 years on my win98.
in fact, if your hw is well installed and is functional, no reason to meet this screen.

maybe the BSOD comes from the proprietary API mania from manufacturers, the same that makes impossible to the hobbyOSist to develop a decent OS without being M$.
