After unzipping the FASMARM Full zip, The fasmarm executable file in the root directory didn't run at first.It was opened with pypar2.

Seems in Ubuntu LTS 12 the GUI properties were at fault The properties defaulted to not executable and opened with pypar2. Checking the box to make it executable generates a bash permission err when invoked from bash terminal. GUI possibly broke or default of .zip handling the issue...

Fix was simple:

chmod +X fasmarm

So I have compiled my first ARM code. Very Happy

Yes, Ubuntu and I have had words over their permissions settings.

Does this affect all .zip files or just the fasmarm zip?

My limited experience tells me *nix and Linux don't incorporate the .zip as a natively supported standard so I suspect you will have to deal with this issue with all ,zip s.
