As long as this kind of prices are not acceptable for me, I will wait a little for the online version.

Google says This will be the book that wakes up the sleeping OS development.
USB: The Universal Serial Bus by Benjamin David Lunt. |

Does this include more than generic drivers? i.e. I'm mostly interested in mass storage - external drives or memory stick - since this is the stuff I can't work out from the specification.

Chapters 15 & 16 teach you how to use mouse, keyboard. Chapter 17 (36 pages) teach you about mass storage. Chapter 18 is all about floppy. The list goes on: external hub, printer, hub on the xHCI root hub, USB 3.0 mass storage.
I guess there's something for everyone. I haven't read through these yet so I cannot make a review, but the topics seem interesting and the first 20 pages have been interesting. |

The Amazon link now has a "Look Inside" for the first few pages of the book. The Contents pages are listed.
This will explain in a little more detail exactly what the book explains. http://www.amazon.com/USB-Universal-Serial-Bus-8/dp/1468151983 |

I've got this AWESOME book today and could not resist to read few first chapters immediately. Great stuff - this is exactly was has been missing for years. There can be only one recommendation: BUY IT if you are into USB programming.

I read that book and it's very useful. Very good for OS developers as it is not fixed to any operating system. Very easy to read and understand, many illustrations, diagrams and nearly 300 tables with data and memory structures.
I hope he will write the rest of the planned books, too. I think it's worth the money (EUR 37,99 in amazon shop). |
