@mindcooler,
Another member (Kuemmel) and I have worked on a double precision Mandelbrot set plotter before. The result of our optimization efforts are at
http://board.flatassembler.net/topic.php?t=12722
and
http://board.flatassembler.net/topic.php?t=5122
if you are interested.

Fractals are not really suitable to vectorize, but I thought I'd give it a try. Seems that there is something fishy about my result Smile
Might be caused by a bug, but it looks nice Smile

Yep, but Maddy corrected it for me!

refering to OP: can you zoom in such fractal? it might be an interestng animation

By your command. http://files.sys5.se/fractal+z.exe

Mouse X is still iteration count, Mouse Y is zoom control. Position is fixed at -0.743643135 + 0.131825963i

The image will start moving when you are nearing the single precision limit, and you will know when you hit it Smile Curiously the X precision seems to be 1/4 of the Y precision.

I have queued those threads for reading Smile

Perhaps it's time to try to colorize it soon.

I made a "simple" event driven multithreading solution, try it out! My first threadpool ever. It creates a worker thread for each processor core present.

The scrollwheel is now zoom control.
