To often I find it hard to find a good collection of inspirational quotes, for programmers and developers. I thought it would have been useful if they could be located on the fasm board for us to have at any time we need them.

Quotes can be from a famous person, a friend, or you (as long as they make sense)

A few quotes:

  1. Never memorize something that you can look up. —Albert Einstein

  2. You never fail until you stop trying. —Albert Einstein

  3. Perfection is achieved, not when there is nothing more to add,
but when there is nothing left to take away.
    —Antoine de Saint-Exupery

  4. First, solve the problem. Then, write the code. —John Johnson

  5. Nobody should start to undertake a large project. You start with
a small trivial project, and you should never expect it to get large.
If you do, you'll just overdesign and generally think it is more important
than it likely is at that stage. Or worse, you might be scared away by the
sheer size of the work you envision. So start small, and think about the
details. Don't think about some big picture and fancy design. If it doesn't
solve some fairly immediate need, it's almost certainly over-designed.
And don't expect people to jump in and help you. That's not how these
things work. You need to get something half-way useful first, and then
others will say "hey, that almost works for me", and they'll get involved
    in the project.
    —Linus Torvalds

  6. My favourite numbers are 1 and 0. Using them the right way, you can make any other favourite numbers that you want —adroit
I have another quote: "Those who don't plan, plan to accomplish nothing"; and I don't know who said it. I would like to who know, so could you help me in finding out. Thank you.

One of my favorites:
Quote:

always program as if the product manager was a serial killer

Here, I found the original version:
Quote:
Always program as if the next person who will maintain your code was a psychopath serial killer”

But really, now days its all about knowing what keywords to look for.
And the keywords must be google compatible, not human compatible.

practical example, about 7 years ago I've been looking for a Delphi WinApi tutorial (I didn't know C, nor Asm, nor WinApi)
If you put "Delphi WinApi Tutorial" the site don't apear.
But if I wan't to find the site again: "Delphi WinApi Zeus" and the site is the second result on angelfire host.

I'm not sure that's the one you're looking for, but I know a similar one: "He who fails to plan is planning to fail" or simply "Failing to plan is planning to fail". I believe Churchill said it.

Offtopic: I think this thread should be about useful quotes, rather than useful quotes for programmers. It's more open.
