I think that line numbers are very useful. At the very least it gives an area on the left side to use for selecting whole lines with the mouse. Even if there are no line numbers, having only the grey strip, it is still useful to have for a neutral area at the left for selecting.

Fresh have such left margin, that is used for displaying icons for bookmarks and for selecting with mouse the entire lines.

Good feature.

Does it show same file in both panels?
If it can show two files - you can implement the following:

1. In Panel 1 I can see the line: "CALL PROC1"
2. I set a mouse cursor on "PROC1" and with right click menu select "Find Definition" command
3. The source of "PROC1" procedure appears in Panel 2

about numbers and line counting, a feature can be cool if added:

When selecting a text zone, with or without vertical selection, it can be nice to have something like "selection(Lengh, Width)" displayed somewhere, in the status bar.
