Who is the best programmer in the world?

It's really a matter of opinion but I'm wondering if there's like some contest somewhere that actually could/did decide this.

You will burn in hell for this heresy.

There are no other God in this forum as Tomasz Grysztar.

You done goofed!

Now the only way to appease Him is by ritual human sacriface of the heretical sinner.

Fasm, as far as I know, is an assembler, not a religion.
And in that case of which you speak, this would also be true: if you use windows, you'd burn in hell by the God Bill Gates for saying Tomasz is better,
and for Linux, you'd burn by Linus...

@vid I'm still a beginner as far as assembly, so I wouldn't be a worthy sacrifice.

Bill Gates has not coded one line of windows and Linus, has not coded the linux kernel in years.
x86 Fasm on the other hand, is coded by one person, theres a big difference.

Maybe we could masquerade it as virgin-coder sacrifice and hope for much benevolence.

He may or may not be,

but I give this guy a hat's off for developing FASM..... Would there have been MenuetOS if it were not for FASM...Hmmmm ?

For me it's not about the best programmer, but rather who has made a difference in the programming world... Very Happy

If you say the name of this "some one else" sinner. and redim yourself, perhaps Tomasz will forgive you.
Otherwise you will be banned not only from this forum, but a lifetime ban of using fams.

My faith is unbreakable as "adamantium". There is only ONE truth, the FASM truth. All others are denied. Wink

How do you define "best"? Best in what way(s)?

Shall we suffer those sacrileging aTomists within our midst? Shall we let them continue corrupting our minds by blaspheming even the the Creator himself? I say NAY! Let them be put unto just fate that they themselves have have brought upon them. Let's get ourselves rid of the fallen flock so that we can peacefully assemble our destiny in way made manifest to us by Him, whose Assembly empowers all our assembling, whose Assembly is preexistent to all our assemblies, and whose Assembly in a way no mortal is capable of understanding Assembled itself in the beginning of all. As'm.

Well, I let the definition be other's opinions. I just wanna know who other's think is best, everyone will have their own definition and their own opinion... (but sometimes programming != religion)

I think that anyone can be a good programmer. What matters is what is going to be created. One could be the master in asm, c++, c, vb or whatever programming language you choose, but if you don't make anything useful with it, what heappens?

What would you say about Tomaz if he hadn't coded Fasm, even though he had all the knowledge?

NASA/CERN programmers are cientists. Just because they can code about something we don't understand, it doesn't make them outstanding programmers.

See my point?

Very Happy you got my point! everyone will have their own opinion, my opinion of a great programmer is one that can make the best program with the least amount of code/effort. It really depends on what they're making but the smallest projects tend to have a big result

That is like openly saying you are gay in front of your heterosexual friends who did not know you were ?
