An OS is the most important software running on a PC. Everything else relies on it. If it sucks, everything will. Do we really need all these powerfull PCs just for an OS? 2 GB of ram for windows 7? Come on...

ones upon a time, PC's with less than 1 meg of low speed ram did more things than a PC with more than 4 GB of high speed ram.

ones upon a time, humans built very huge monuments, all with sculpted stone, it took sometimes more than one century to achieve the building, and theses monuments are still there, very beautyfull, symbols of a dead age.

now we build thousands of steel, glass and cement towers, wait a little to have planes crushing on, leading to some desired wars, and we are so many people than some of us don't know what to do with their lifes. so much that suicide is one of the most important cause of death.

ones upon a time, humanity dreamed about a better world.
microsoft, shell, total, monsanto, UN, Mac Donald, disney, gave us a bugged version of this better world.

a world with ibmadobewindowsapple at the center of every technical parts of any domain.

a world with no more magical illusion or dream. everything is planified, on a excel sheet, converted to pdf, and shared on the web, for ipad users.

Things that i wish windows 8+ to have:

- A new kernel without bloats and written in asm to reduce size, memory usage and increase speed;
- No visual bloats;
- Run extremely well on low-end PCs;
- A new API for easier and faster programming, all in asm;
- Break native compatibility with prior windows versions apps;
- Make prior windows apps compatible through a virtual machine;
- Apps should be installed inside layers, leaving windows registry and file system untouched. Deleting an app deletes the layer, leaving no footprints;
- No more windows registry, if possible.

Who knows? Smile

They will never do that cause there are not more than 10000 people in the world who can code something in asm, 15%-1500 of them can do it proffessionally, and most of proffessional asm programmers hate microsoft. So, where will they hire anyone to code windows in asm???
One more thing - Windows is not made for people like us, it is made mostly for 'illiterates', who think that the more 'visual bloats' there is in OS - the better OS is.

To be fair, it has a better memory management and is less demanding than Vista. I think it can be installed with just 1 GB, and you can even downgrade to 512 MB after that and it would still work fine.

Why do we have to buy a new pc every version? Is it something intenetional for us to buy a new pc, and push sales?

No, you don't. You can use various Linux/BSD distros to prolong your PC longevity.

My old desktop, which is about 11 years old won't run Windows 7, so I installed Linux and hey, I can still do something useful on it Smile

They want ARM support.
