for some time ago, i keep on thinking,
is that possible for a pci modem card (those dial up 56kbps) to function as a ADSL modem router through computer (maybe bsd, linux or etc OS)

maybe can put 2 pci modem card to work as dual ADSL wan port balancing router..

Short answer: No.

Long answer: ADSL != V90. Totally different systems.

ok, but i was thinking, if the line (the phone line) that we feed into the ADSL router same as those we feed into the pci modem, .... maybe software could sort of emulate what the hardware ADSL router did

or (there is a special CHIP or etc watever stuff) that inside this ADSL router (i thought they are something like computer) that not available inside PC?

Short answer: No.

Long answer: They are like chalk and cheese, oil and water. You can't turn one into the other without some major hardware changes. And by major I mean taking out your V90 modem and completely replacing it with an ADSL system.

ADSL uses not only modulation to encode datas, but also phase shifts, many channels, what a modem card cannot do at all because it is just a simple frequency modulator.
you cannot build a plane with EAX register, you cannot do ADSL with V90 modem.
but remember the topic about V90 via sound card, it was interresting.
