i am trying to learn windows 9x, but i encountered problems.
I run windows 9x under virtualbox, but when i set breakpoints in app they seem to be ignored.... Along with sigle step.

I use ollydbg.

I would like to know for example how does windows 98 transfer control to ring0, how strings are passed, and how function calls works in details.

Get a copy of 'Windows 95 System Programming Secrets' by Matt Pietrek. Its possible that ollydbg maybe incompatible with Win95, try an older version. Or get the Win 95 SDK (there was another thread on this), there must be a supported debugger there. Have you tried SoftICE?
