...My assembler Very Happy hehe

I call it zasm. Very Happy

For while it only define data (byte, word and dword only) using hexadecimal (only!) and string (in byte definition) numbers.

The 'only' problem is: i'm doing it in C# Razz if you can, test it!

- Features:
  • Data definition byte, word and dword only.
  • hexadecimal only (x-end).
  • Strings support in byte definition.
  • Error messages if invalid value/definition is found.

- Valid inputs:
Code:
db 'test','a',0x
dw ABCDx,0x,2x,3x
dd ABCDEF98x,0x,1x

(yes, hexadecimal ends with x in zasm! Razz)

- Compiling:
To compile just use command line zasm.exe example.asm or just drag example.asm file to zasm.exe.

- Hello world! using zasm at current release:
Code:
db BAx, 0Bx, 01x
db B4x, 09x
db CDx, 21x
db B4x, 4Cx
db CDx, 21x

db 'Hello World!$'
(Remember to rename example.bin to example.com Razz)

- Bugs?
Tell me! Razz

- Improvements?
Tell me! Razz

Description: v0.00
Download
Filename: zasm.7z
Filesize: 3.12 KB
Downloaded: 96 Time(s)

I hardly think that a program that accepts only db as valid input is permitted to be called an assembler! Razz

Improvements? Umm, 1) Write it in assembly. 2) There is no number 2, until you complete number 1 any more steps would not improve it. Laughing

The general idea bears striking resemblance to my good old MDAT tool (mentioned here). Wink

Resemblance? I don't got it.

****

here current zasm BNF/RE-mixed:

Code:
<definition> -> d[bwd] <value>

<value> -> <string>|<hexa>|<binary>|<decimal>
      <binary>  -> [0-1]+b  ; not used yet
       <decimal> -> [0-9]+   ; idem
       <hexa>    -> [0-F]+x
       <string>  -> '<anything>'

<space>    -> \s
<anything> -> .+

this is how i'm wondering to work:

Code:
compile
   + step1
      + check syntax
         + get classes
            + check semantic (rules)
   + step2
      + resolve constants
      + resolve expressions
      + resolve macros
   + step3
      + generate opcodes
         + resolve directives
         + resolve labels

But i'm still not sure about this organization.
