Personally I like two of the presented four movies: "DarkHall" and "Camera mapping". Smile

BTW, it's quite interesting how much time it takes to make such 10-15 sec animation?

Thanks..

you can make them longer than 10-15 sec.. I just keep them short for now.. do to upload time... and also rendering time... the more you add (meshes and detail) the longer time it will take to render/upload.

the dark hall took about 2 hours.. with taking breaks..

Referring to the rendering tools - I've found an interesting application for 3D modelling: Sculptris. I would like to ask you if you've ever used it and, if yes, what are your impressions?

Here is a demo presenting in a short way possibilities of this application:

I have never used it.. but from the demo and looking on line about it.. I am going to give it a try...

I can let you know in a week or 2 what I think of it and have a short film..
it looks pretty cool to make characters in..

The new blender 2.5 has a greate new user interface.. I hated the older version..

I have tried :
3d max
maya
anim8or
milkshape
blender

I'm quite interested in Blender. I've done a few amateur models, but nothing compared to Sculptris 1.0. I think it's to easy - that's just my opinion.

You say that because the interface is quite "hostile" for beginners, but it's quite easy when you get used to it.
Try this: press spacebar > Mesh > ... > accept the default properties ; press tab to enter edit mode (again to return to object mode) ; a de/selects all ; RMB (right-click) selects a specific vertice/edge/face/object ; g is used to grab (move) ; r is used to rotate ; e is used to extrude ; you can constraint any movement to specific axises using X/Y/Z (e.g. g>y>10).

These are the basics. See? It wasn't so difficult after all...

Sculptris 1.0.

but I did like it.. was fun.. I wish it would export other than wavefront.obj..

He's really good. I like the site. He really does take things each step at a time.

edfed,
Maybe you could check this out: A detailed overview of the blender interface.
