Yesterday at University I was told to go home, because I live on the opposite bank of the river. Some of the main bridges have been closed (imagine the traffic jams because of that), one of them is almost flooded already.

For comparison, here is the image of "Dębnicki" bridge from Wikipedia:

And in attachment is the picture I've taken from the same place yesterday.

Tomasz, both pictures have equal place of photo taking, were you the author of pic#1 or that's a popular building?

Things are pretty harsh in Slovakia, in some places, even army was called in. There is a place that always gets flooded in the town where I live. But last year it was worse, even one dead. (I was outside with friends right when it started, it is a funny story ...). Fortunatelly our family lives on the hills by the town.

Here are some pictures from this year: http://www.myjava.sk/v-myjave-plati-3-povodnovy-stupen-hladiny-vodnych-tokov-stupaju/

So true. We're ants under nature's magnifying glass.

Flood 1997: 50 dead, flood 2009: 13 dead (in three days!). This year's flood is much smaller here, Poland was hit much worser I think.

I hope Kraków will survive well, it's beautiful city.

Well, here's the rub - not exactly. (But we are trying hardly; cross our hearts!)

ass0,

Some efforts to use decent language show writer's respect toward readers. There is no shame to be illiterate a bit, only annoyance.

Are Vistula riverbanks designed to keep this kind of flood?
