Yes, there's an API for that.

Perhaps you want to EXEcute your file after you download it? Very Happy

In any case you can download the Windows SDK, it has a list of all of the API's when I started Win32 programming I made it a point to go through the whole list it was very enlightening.

... because there are some I can think of, and they're even coded in assembly. And there are backdoors and worms too, muhahaha! Twisted Evil

Anyway, you can check the zip downloader from here. It may give you ideas (productive and useful ones hopefully).
