I read through the forums often and find allot of useful information, so I was thinking that having a central location, like a wiki for this info would be helpful. What do you think?

Actually, a best idea in few years, IMO. Info gets easily lost in this board. Question is just whether there are enough people who would add meaningful content.

I agree, this is a really good idea.
What kind of wiki software would you recommend?

Or perhaps I should have asked: "what kind of software/hosting". It might be a good idea to host it on a different database than this message board.

maybe to don't share the same bandwidth than the forum on the same server.
it will let the wiki be independant, and portable, but of course, linked to by the main index on flatassembler.

and if the forum database have a bug, or a hack (remember the long night, it was so horrible, blood everywhere), the wiki will be accessible anyway. and vice versa.

but i ask onlmy one thing, the SAME design as fasm board.
really clean interface, pure and with a pastel color... maybe yellow pastel?

I always liked fasm's site, and message board design, but most of the wiki hosting sites I looked at don't say anything about themes Sad

Would it suck too much if we used some public wiki, like wikia.com?

What about http://www.asmcommunity.net/book/? The disadvantage is its complexity, because it tries to cover assemblers in general, the advantage is that it already contains useful general information about assembler programming.

I think it wouldn't "suck".

On the other hand, I don't think I would myself participate much in such project - when I finally seat down to write something about fasm, I would like to finish my "Understanding fasm" text.

as a base, but after, add submenus offcourse.

and of course, every example should be accompanied by source code in simple fasm syntax, and work as is if someone use it in his own code.

for the utilities, i think only fasm coded utilities should be referenced, if they exist. execp^tions can be made for very complex utilities, but at the end, there should be only Fasm coded utilities, with source code.

and of course, a fasm based licence.

no C or else-asm based code allowed, because it will be only about fasm X86 pogramming.

and a menu at the end about fasmarm with sbmenus choosen by revolution, off course, that will cover every tricks employed with fasmarm programming, like how to flash the ARM, utilities, etc...

FASM code only.

But how exactly will work, what software & what about web hosting.
Anyone can free add code/article or (better) with some kind of admin approval?
Transfer code/articles from forum, or write fresh new.
Lots of questions.

Good idea. Razz
