Hi ,

If you saw the spinning blinky thing (animated gif) at

http://www.geocities.com/wemakeitbig

Here is the pdf with the hook up and truth table to make one.

I'll try to attach it. If not it will be available as soon as we can post it.

The program to drive the device is being commented for beginners so it can

be easily modified. May have it done tonight.

Later, Mark

I recommend you invest in some series resistors, unless you want to destory the LED's.

I'd suggest about 300 - 500 ohms.

It's would be better to buffer the LED's through transistors, too, since not all parallel port interfaces are going to be able to source the current you are drawing.

Mike.

Thanks for the warning Mike.

Yep I put (24 LEDS) that's 8x3 (ABC) of the bi-color leds in a circle and wired 'em like the pdf shows.

What do you know works like a charm on everything I ever hooked it to. Including all the laptops.

* We've been doing this current and leds and lpt ports etc stuff for a LONG LONG LONG time... Never popped a LPT Port yet. Killed a COM port or two though had help with some static charges here and there.

This little blinky thing HAD been running on a DOS machine for over 2 years.

If you are only going to fire a single LED in very few cases and only with red leds do you OVER do it.

The device has been built with mono color LEDS and bicolors also we've ordered some tricolors and will use more output bits. Lotsa Colors.

Built a clock too. It's set up to flash like crazy at a specific time.

Anyway it works fine and the Lpt port is limited to it's output and the thing is
fun to play with.

call rrl - roll red right
call mcl - roll multicolor left

etc

Will try to post a pic here.

Hi Octavio,

We somehow missed the previous post about this.

Does this allow reading a .jpg from HD?

This is the only problem with jpegview we've encountered.

Thanks for the heads up. GIFView anyone?

Thanks again.

[quote="bloglite"]Hi Octavio,

that is a OS job.
the purpose of this library is to allow reading any number of bytes at any file position, because menuetos only reads 512 bytes blocks

> This is the only problem with jpegview we've encountered.
do you mean that menuetos can read files from hd but the jpegview can't
display these files? it´s strange.
>Thanks for the heads up. GIFView anyone?
there are already many sources of gif decoders in programmers heaven
and i also have my own, when i have a bit of time i will port it to menuet
too.

Hi Octavio,

Maybe I should explain further

While running Jpegview.

Loading /rd/1/jpegview.jpg

Jpegview WILL display pic.

Loading /hd/1/jpegview.jpg

will NOT display pic.

copying a file from hd to rd then loading that file w/ jpegview will work.

any ideas why jpegview will load and display pics from rd and not hd?

Thanks

You can download modified Jpegview (boot parametr - sets /rd/1/bg.jpg as wallpaper and parameters are supported!) and Systree which can DoubleClick open *.jpg files (From Ivan Poddubniy - bmp and all text files)
you can also download new launcher (Mario79) - which reads programms to run from external file! Arrow

Yes it only work with /rd/1 but this also happens to other programs
like bmpview or far ,the only program able to read out of this directory
is systree, but i don't know why.

Because it's illegal in most countries on the planet.

You're free, Chemist, however, inciting people to crack/use cracked software is not really do be done in such place. We're not underground here.

Guys!
Use 7-zip! Free open sources project! The best compression all that you need.

I compared the maximum compression of 7-Zip and WinRAR, WinRAR compresses better...
