Ad blocking* is bad for other reasons. If you browse the Internet with JavaScript and images disabled most of the time like I do, you won't see 99.99% of the ads and you'll eliminate the visual clutter (among other things) most pages seem to be plagued with nowadays. You can't imagine how pleasing this is to the eye until you've tried it!

*actually the ad blocker software/add-on/extension not the process itself

In case of reading comments to an article...
With disabled Java - no comments can't be seen on most sites.

One presumes you mean JavaScript. And yes, many sites have developed a habit of requiring JS for simple basic things like displaying content, links and menus. They seem to ignore the fact that browsers have these things built-in.
