It never seem to amaze me how arrogant we humans are.

The land does not belong to anyone as no one has created the land. Nor anyone able to create every molecule and atom of the land from scratch.

We are merely living on the land. And the one that is more capable of defending it, is the one that keeps it. If China where to invade the USA and won, then the land that was under the control of the USA, would be under the control of China.

Property is just a fantasy created by a human system to fullfill human arrogance, just as the belief that whoever or whatever created the universe is of human image. Plain human arrogance.

I guess that bombing the moon is a way for the USA to get around the nuclear testing ban. If memory serves me well, there is a treaty in wich you can only do nuclear testing underground. But since the moon is outside the earth, is outside the treaty,

BTW: Has anyone seen "The time Machine", they try to use nuclear bombs in the moon, and it did not good too well.

There's also an Outer Space Treaty which prohibits nukes in space, even more bombings... not that they'd care though.

From what I have read in space treaty on wikipedia:
wikipedia wrote:

Experts of international space law state that the Moon falls under the legal concept of res communis, which means that it belongs to a group of people, and may be used by every member of the group, but cannot be appropriated by anyone (the concept is also applied to International Waters).

This is just dumb. You can't stop people from claiming to own anything. If the US colonized the moon and claimed it was theirs, who would stop them?

The Moon(and the other planets) should be treated like empty land on Earth, first country to get there and set up a military presence gets it.

rxantos: There is no nuclear anything being sent to the Moon. edfed made a mistake with the thread title, there is no bomb, it is just a heavy weight crashing into the surface.

Seem like the MiG29 pilot just pushed EJECT. He noticed the NASA bomb perhaps.

every cause would create effect. maybe something will get triggered after they did something with the moon.
even a slightly mini scale crash, it would probably slow down the moon a single millisecond and in long run, probably it would has some effect on us, after all, our earth is somehow connected with the moon.

hmm, like every rockets which takes off from earth, somehow, they will pushes in order to take off and that would probably cause slight "changes" towards earth in long run. idk, i just guessing.

Are you horribly pessimistic or just well-informed in that matter? Wink

And where exactly did you hear that? I read on NASA's website that it will be similar in size to east crater, 30 meters wide and 4 deep.

And it's not like these kinds of things don't happen on the moon all the time anyways. There are always meteorioids crashing into the Moon, theres just no instrumentation there to capture it.
