what you guys recommend for such usage,
3D interior designer, he told me he wants intel core i7

i think that to do 3D rendering is needed a cluster (parallel computing), so you can choose less expensive hardware and it will be scalable also.

btw. Would be very very nice to see a cluster using menuetos or a virtual machine like inferno in fasm that would be awesome. I would join to that project with so much enthusiasm =D.

I dunno, what program does he use? Most "interior designers" use the GPU, not the CPU, for rendering purposes. So you'll need a high-end graphics card, not an i7. A Core 2 Quad is fine. (Q9550 I recommend Razz)

Until today they all used CPU (software) rendering. GPU rendering (espescially 2D content) is in its baby-steps. I've been following Adobe on this subject (YES, YOU Adobe!).

Core i7 is sensible anyways - 12GB of DDR3 is cheap and throw a 200-series GPU from nVidia then you're ready.
