I like to know if there is a way to tap into the power of GPUs.

Any suggestion / opinion is welcome !

Unfortunately, it's hard to do directly without writing your own drivers and without there being a standard (ugh) without you, once again, writing your own drivers or your own kernel, because the only standards (vga, vesa, vbe etc) are all protected from the third ring (where your code at in most OSes). So, you're stuck with whatever library is used on the system you're using (usually it's safe to go with OpenGL, but i wish there was something a little better than that).

I wonder, does there exist an assembler for OpenCL binaries?

BTW you still need a driver for the CPU to send info to the GPU to inform it what to process.

aren't there enough reversed engineer direct-x stuffs available out there that can be used?

I second that !

With the instructions and registers made available, maybe there will be a version of flatasm for all ATI GPUs in the future, who knows?
