Question What restricted sites can't you visit?

I always use a VPN through a known Internet friendly country. That way I can travel anywhere and never have a problem with the local Internet connection either restricting me or monitoring me.

Okay, I just set OpenDNS as my server (208.67.222.222/208.67.220.220) and I can get that site above to resolve for me.

The problem must be somewhere else in your ISP's connection setup. Maybe you are at a school, university, or oppressive country that is filtering your results?

I'd suggest that you make sure you won't get fired for whatever it is that you want to do but think about using a VPN. A proxy can still be monitored and filtered, unless it is an encrypting proxy, but even that can still be intercepted if your employer has installed their own certificates. But a VPN is guaranteed because the the password is a pre-shared key.

Sad but truth. I mean the threat of being fired.
Actually when I get fed-up with my work only then I used to visit them.

This site was not blocked, I wonder why? Smile

Be careful with OpenDNS, for instance, did you know this?

Code:
C:\Documents and Settings\Hernan>nslookup
Servidor predeterminado: ns2.arnet.com.ar
Address: 200.45.48.233

Servidor: ns2.arnet.com.ar

Interesting, does that mean that OpenDNS is acting as a proxy for google?

Certainly, the IP clearly does not belong to Google: http://private.dnsstuff.com/tools/whois.ch?domain=208.69.32.230

Now, I will use google.navigation.opendns.com because the proxy of my ISP will redirect my to the real Google servers otherwise:
Code:
Connected.
TRACE / HTTP/1.1
Host: google.navigation.opendns.com
Max-Forwards: 0

HTTP/1.1 200 OK
Server: squid
Date: Fri, 22 May 2009 16:16:29 GMT
Content-Type: text/plain
Expires: Fri, 22 May 2009 16:16:29 GMT
X-Cache: MISS from .
Via: 1.0 .:80 (squid)
Content-Length: 98
Connection: Keep-Alive

TRACE / HTTP/1.0
Host: google.navigation.opendns.com
Max-Forwards: 0
Connection: Keep-Alive

Disconnected.

"There is no such thing as a free lunch."

OpenDNS also give a search page if the URL is not found. I wonder how much money they make from this type of behaviour?
