Looks more like a C based tool. Can it take an ASM source and do it's magic?

I dunno yet.

Just found it and still trying to understand the thing.

However, on the index page, among others is the following sentence:

"Salto is a retargetable framework for developing the whole spectrum of tools that manipulates assembly-language"
