Hmm, well I'll have to think about that idea. My thought is that bunching things in multiples of 10 was quite a logical step seeing as how most people have 10 fingers. Thus the decimal number system was born.

With binary we can count to 2^10-1 on the fingers - which I've taught to several children.

Since old times there exists very efficient way of counting in positional system with hands.

Chinese merchants can count on one hand up to 100,000 (every part of the finger of the left hand pointed by the right thumb represents digit from 1 to 9 multiplied by the proper power of 10). Here you have short (but not complete) description of this method:

Why is it that the human population, in general, likes to make special mention of numbers that, in base ten, finish in all zeros?
The same reason they like to sit in front of tubes to watch people roll around in the mud fighting over balls.

Stupidity is just human nature. It's what separates us from machines.

Humans and cats commonly use a positional system with their fingers/hands to represent ASCII text.

That's not even scratching the surface. At least add greed, selfishness, pride and lust to cover the basics

LMAO at the cat pic.

I wonder, why do we need fingers to count? Can't we use our brains?

Hehe, maybe it will happen while you are sleeping/working/driving/eating? Or will you stop your life and monitor during that period?

Well you can't die just yet because you have to fulfil your promise to post the 100000th (in decimal) message. So hang in there for a few more weeks (or months?).

Not a very useful base. But anyway in case someone wants to post on some sort of sexatrigesimal special occasion.
Code:
```  base-36           base-10
1                  1
10                 36
100              1,296
1000             46,656
10000          1,679,616
100000         60,466,176
1000000      2,176,782,336
10000000     78,364,164,096
100000000  2,821,109,907,456    ```
Yeah but they wouldn't be called 60466176, since we won't use decimal
