So if you know any IE6 users, make sure they install a modern browser, meaning ANYTHING but ANY version of IE, the worst browser on the planet.

IE8 is 11 years behind all other browsers in modern standards and practices. So where do you think that puts IE6?

Talking about IE6, is its PNG support any better after applying all the updates? I found immensely stupid that the IE6 I have on a VirtualPC with an intentionally unpatched WinXP SP2 does not honor the alpha channel if the PNG's URL does not end with ".png" exactly (case insensitive), no matter whether you emit "image/png" or not. Also, I've just tried with a palettized PNG file (the URL finishes with ".png" this time), containing a tRNS chunk to specify alpha values for the colors but it simply showed nothing (despite that saving the image and showing it with the default XP's viewer works and the alpha channel was honored).

IE7, IE8, Firefox and Opera does not exhibit the same stupid behavior.

PS: I've attached the image. You should see a bright red triangle (it is pure red actually but because its alpha is only 64 the white background of this forum makes it bright)

No. IE6 has never been updated since 2001 when that dev team was disbanded.
