i am trying to make a fucntion that makes l4x4 leters using a users 16 byte long variable

1001
1111
0001
0001

var db '1001111100010001'



the letter 4
how can i get the var contents from ax

i have done this
mov ax,examplevariable ;from the user
;;function
how can i make a variable of ax's contents?
i was dumb enough to try
mov anothervariable, ax

any ideas

this is mainly so i can do this
mov ax, [anotherbuffer]
cmp ax, '0'
je somewhere
mov ax, [anotherbuffer+1] ; check the second digit
cmp ax, '1'

oh thats a major facepalm, i didnt try

mov [anothervar],ax

mov ax, [anothervar] the other way around, sorry for the trouble
