GREAT!!!!
I'm a DOS programmer (by hobbie) since I was 12 and even when new stuff comes and games have more graphics and sound, nothing is as fun as old classic games. Plus, programming using other people libraries and object oriented stuff is not really programming. I feel really happy to know there are many people interesting in TRUE programming under a TRUE operating system. After all, possibilities depend on imagination, not on the OS. Hi Ozzy, I program in dos and in assembly as well! I have done this for a long time, You can find a treasure of dos code at this FTP site:
http://sunsite.lanet.lv/ftp/mirror/x2ftp/msdos/programming/ I recommend browsing thought the folders on at a time and picking out anything that interests you from looking at the index file, which contains a short desription of each file. madmatt |

Ken Silverman and the build engine is always interesting.
Redneck Rampage Rides Again (RA) has incredible frame rate. You might try video mode 92 or 95 decimal It requires bank switching, but you can probably get PORT BANK switching info for just popular video cards and speed things up that way. Just a stupid question:
Has anyone of you ever managed to program a 3D-graphics card under DOS? lol: I mean, VESA 2.0/3.0 is fine, but no 3D acceleration! (Perhaps some 3D-calculation with SSE, no idea how slow/fast this would be) |
