yes, i know, but i was just suggesting.
for free space, there is a problem.
and fat is a structure, yes, but a granular structure.
and OS can allocate in 2M or 4M as well in 4K (paging)
for free space, i don't have idea, i don't know, leave this idea, it's not a good one.
but 512bytes, it's soooo.. grumpf. 4Kbytes too is grumpf.
....
....
for free space, it depend on the structure used to make the FS...

humpf, and then, the preblem reappear, granularity... i dislike it.
i'll try to make it, just to see the effect.
and after, we'll see if it's a good idea.

Ram pages on x86 can also be 4meg, 2meg, or 1... was it gig or terabyte? (recent AMD addition).

Also note that harddrives don't let you access less than one sector at a time, with the most used sector size being 512 bytes.

Your filesystem idea sounds too simplistic, better to look into the various systems that already exist - there's a lot of them.

escuse me, it was just an idea, to dig deeper, but it's endless like stated before.
i need to reflect more about...
i'm not interrested in existing FS.
it's like that, i study, and like i study, i need to analyse all the constraints, from hardware to software.

thanks fodder for the suggestion, but i cannot apply it for the moment.
