Why is progress on MenuetOS 32-bit totally stopped. Anything new is always some stupid HTTP Client why doesn't anybody try to port MenuetOS to HDD. Open Source Communities have been known to be slow.........

if you want that , why don't you make it?
menuet os can be modified for your own use, depend only on your capabilities.

Hi Wink

You could use Hirens boot CD since it's free and make install CD for menuet (Hirens already have boot loader and partition tools for HDD).

IMHO, the Next Big Thing shall be USB 3.0, so the lack of USB is becoming rather painful. If I wasn't working on Almond, I'd have the mind to write a driver

you can do that as funny game, and Almond as your main work!!!

I personally have already reverse engineered Menuet64. I only did so to learn the processes involved. It's a nice setup

you are crazy Laughing, reserving an open source... i know it's to learn, but, you are really crazy, i love it Wink...

Menuet64 kernel is closed source and distribution is prohibited without permission.

So you gave us a reason to keep Menuet64 closed source a little bit longer again, Daniel.

USB mouse is already working over here.. Smile

menuet64 i closed?
i didn't know that, sorry.

i think i unerstand why... 64bit is recent, and recent 64bits OS are not complete... so the work on menuet is an original and unique work. not like all 32bits OS versions, that don't need to be closed...

I do not think that its closed-source, because its new, its because Ville learnt, that you louse control and that 99% of people just want to rip your code, instead of using and adding to your OS.
So if he could go back in time, i think he would make 32bit MenuetOS closed too.
But i could be wrong.

in the future, my os, if i make it one day, will be open source, but...

if somebody want to make a new function, he must first speak of it with me. why? because i think that if too many differents brains works on the same project, it will be full of undesirable layers, and the main spirit of the project is lost.

about fbrowser, we are 3 active members on it, the sourc need to be as clear as possible to be easy to understand and modify. and use of short simple symbols help to understand.

menuet 32 source is so... dirty. just to compile it. and to optimise it.. it's impossible. too many differents coding styles in the modules, and sometimes in the same module...

There is a small change to the license, section 2.

2) Redistribution, reverse engineering, disassembly or decompilation prohibited without permission.

Ville: Thanks ever so much for deleting my post.

But, in an effort to help you out, your clause above needs to be written differently if you are really serious about protecting yourself in territories that allow such restrictions.

1) You need to state who permission should come from, eg. "... without permission from the copyright holders."
2) You need to be careful where such a clause is not valid in some countries. It can have a follow on effect of invalidating the entire document. So you should revise it again to say something along the lines of "... where such restrictions are enforceable by law."
3) You should also state the country of origin for the license.

Ville: Your license is incredibly restrictive with clause 3 "In order to download or use Menuet64, you and your local legislation must agree to the terms of this License." You have excluded almost the entire planet there because of how it mixes with clause 2 "Redistribution, reverse engineering, disassembly or decompilation prohibited without permission from the copyright holders."

The laws in most countries allow disassembly for certain purposes, if you exclude them then almost no one will be able to meet your license terms due to each users local laws being incompatible.

2) Redistribution, reverse engineering, disassembly or decompilation
prohibited without permission from the copyright holders,
except to the extent allowed under applicable law.

And clause 3 is removed altogether to keep the license straightforward.

Yeah, now it is more standard. And friendlier.
