Just making a little announcement about this project really at the minute...

It aims to be easy-to-read by all, and is written completely in FASM-syntax ASM. I have a little website and message board up at http://ezos.zenco.net/ with sourcecode and binaries available. Just wondered what everyone thought.

I have looked at your site, i really like your logo , the only problem i found, was that it was not till i read some of your source code, that i new it was a realmode OS.

But still nice start and keep up the good work

Good start, and GREAT philosophy.
Look forward to two modest improvements, eventually:
(a) hard drive access instead of, or in addition to, option to use obsolete floppy,
(b) 100% protected mode.

I'm hoping for hard drive support soon as well, and I will be making an effort to code it in.
I'll split a protected mode branch off eventually, but I want to try and get this working in 16-bit too incase anyone has very old PCs e.g. 286s etc and need a decent OS to run on them.

You can setup protected mode on 286 CPU also
It is only much harder to return to real mode on a 286 (but possible)

The only CPU that does not have a protected mode is a 8086/8088

one question a little bit off topic... I thought that you couldn't return to real mode in the 286s... can you post some link that explains how to do it (i started reading about this yesterday, thats why i don't have idea)

There are many advantages to a small realmode OS, including being able to load from USB key-fobs and using USB keyboards, if the BIOS supports it.
Also later you can boot to your realmode OS and from there go to pmode, like MenuetOS does.
