you have to use FASM version for FreeBSD. IN it you can code for any platform you wish.

DOSbox 0.63 will work (although I only tried it on Win XP Home SP2). You'll have to use FASM.COM (from older version 1.45).
However, FASM 1.50 (now in .EXE format) actually causes DOSbox to quietly exit. FASM 1.64's .EXE won't work either and will report the error you mentioned above (without exiting). Ask Privalov if you really want to know why newer versions won't work (unreal mode vs. flat real ???). P.S. You may enjoy booting FreeDOS Odin 0.72 instead ("One Disk INstaller," 1.44 floppy image). |

Read the http://board.flatassembler.net/topic.php?t=3946 and also my post in the other thread it links to. Hope it explains the issue.

I read all that before recently, and it's still very confusing. I'm not quite, er, up to snuff on all that techie stuff. Anyways, I was wrong, I forgot that you can run cwsdpmi to enable DPMI for one program, then run the latest fasm (1.65.2), and it'll work in DOSbox 0.63. I just tried it, and it does work.
