Is it part of the _stdcall convention to save these registers?

Is there a good site that breaks down _stdcall in detail with assembler? Most sites I have been to explain it from a high language point of view.

here are a couple posts about preserving some registers, i did not find any background info on stdcall but look in the fasm source itself in INCLUDE\MACRO\STDCALL.INC to see how it is implemented
