My opinion about gui is a bit more complex than simply good/bad. In theory, gui can achieve better than command string based programming, but is actually far away from it. Therre astill too many things left which cannot be done this way.

What's this MyCleaner? Looks as a small and pretty easy to use clean up your f...king garbaged desktop program.

i like standard win32 dialog look, seems cleaner. your program looks interesting; will your program empty the 'standard' folders or scan thru the hdd looking for stuff? and where is the button to start the scan?

I think your program looks nice. The window themes though look like something from KDE. Is that part of the program or is that an XP theme?

These custom designed GUI looks always very nice, but they're able to *confuse* many users... ;(

In fact this is the Watercolor theme, designed originally for Whistler (the alpha version of Windows XP).

yes, program will scan 'standard' folders (full recursion supported) and delete files from them. 'clean' button temporarly disabled, because it's only gui. MyCleaner v1.3 completed, but interface very-very ugly.

It's easy because you usually don't need algorithms more sophisticated than how to center one rectangle in another. It's straightforward because when you make a mistake, you immediately see it and can correct it. It's fun, because the results of your work are immediately visible. You feel like you are sculpting the program directly.

i agree 100%....

Nice GUI! It looks clear and easy to use. I love well-done GUIs, but I'm not good on developing graphical user interfaces. Embarassed
Someday I'll show you mi ugly GUIs Embarassed

By the way: how do you make the bottom label "My Cleaner v1.4" looking like "disabled" ?

at WM_INITDIALOG i create one brush for background (hBackBrushLogo), then i catch WM_CTLCOLORSTATIC

Code:
<dialog proc>
.wm_ctlcolorstatic:
        invoke  SetBkMode,[wParam],TRANSPARENT
        invoke  GetSysColor,COLOR_BTNSHADOW
        invoke  SetTextColor,[wParam],eax
        mov     eax,[hBackBrushLogo]
        jmp     .finish

...
.finish:
        xor      eax,eax
        pop     edi esi ebx
        return
