Unununium definitely has the same primary goal as KawaiiOS: elegance. I read a Linus Torvalds post where he argued that elegance was less important than having something that actually works, but since I'm doing KawaiiOS as an academic exersize, I'll try for elegance anyway.

I decided against pursuing orthogonal persistence. I like the idea of being able to have a blank slate by rebooting the computer. The few persistent environments I have worked in (Smalltalk environments, any Macintosh configuration dialog box) are more trouble than they are worth. I also didn't want to mandate any particular language for applications or drivers, since the choice of the most suitable language depends on the application.
