You could test BOS. It has some simple commands..
The website (http://bos.asmhackers.net/) should be up in a day or two, but I'll attach the 0.03 version here.. / Christoffer

or you can try LowOS written by me... its written with NASM and includes multitasking, paging, promt and a native fs.
