I use c/c++ now because I got a compiler and I'm to lazy to write asm.

Assembly beats Ruby?
Probably some folks going nuts by rewriting their web apps from using Ruby on Rails to assembly

And this September, assembly language is 8-th in the Tiobe index. Slowly climbing to number 1. Smile

Hardware improvements are really slowing down - assembly is the answer! Very Happy

From medical point of view, it shows number of suicidal programmers are on the rise.

Agree. After reading the comment-less source code of fasm, many assembly programmers may choose to end their lives immediately!

I wonder if the reason why Java is number 1 is because there are a lot of publically available Javadoc sites. Confused

A lot of money moved Java to the top. For advertising, documentation, education, everything.

No. The Tiobe index does not count "WebAssembly". It works in different way.

Everyone is pulling their heads out of their asses realizing that assembler really cannot go away since every compiler assembles for binary or byte code regardless. Additionally, FAsm is definitely growing in popularity STILL and is easy and cross-platform --I believe FAsm may have had serious impact on Asm popularity!

I must also note that libraries (OOP) have been getting bloat as h3ll lately. GTK 3 is a perfect example of system performance drop off due to abusive abstraction and piss poor media management.

Assembly will become a band aid then the goto again because everyone will see it for the wonderful thing that it is. ASM is my Scrabble language of choice.

Cool deal on posting the metrics images above - is nice to see.

Do tell. Is that the game Scrabble? You have an AI engine in ASM?

he-he Smile
it is pleasant, but same time is strange Smile
maybe it is because they should call point "Assembly languages"? Wink
maybe, while HLL programmers are distibuting among many languages (a lot of which is exotic), assemblerists are uniting together! Wink

also, i see they excluded p**n search engines: i'm just curious, how it could change the index of programming languages distribution Very Happy
