Since most of the new computers have, or will have, multi-core processors, is anybody working on an OS to address that?

Since most of the example OS's, on this forum, are of a single tasking nature is it even possible to come up with an example OS that would utilize multiple cores? From a software point of view (FASM), what would it take to make such a beast (multi-core OS) ?

I think BareMetal runs multi in 64bit.

I'm pretty sure a couple people here have managed SMP support in their OS's.

If you mean more mainstream examples, both unix (and derviatives) and windows have had SMP/NUMA support for decades.

PS: in existing legacy OS'es, I dislike other things than a "lack of cores". So in my OS, I will address other issues Wink
