These days, I am pretty busy in my work and have no free time to make the serious work over FreshIDE. So, I made one mini-project just to stay in form.

It is simple text editor, that allows one to define shortcut macros that to insert tags (open and close) or simply snippets of text - Ascii art, signatures, smiles, etc. in the edited text.

As the name explains it was aimed for editing Wiki pages, but you can use it for any other text files formatted with some markup language - HTML, BBCode, etc.

The sets of macros are saved in config file, so one can use many of them - for every specific task.

Yeah, it's a quite nice and neat tool.

What about following suggestions:

• checking if the all tag pairs are closed (may be useful especially in case of relatively big fragments of pasted text),
  
  
• tooltips informing about functions associated with every button in the toolbar (certainly, not so important in comparison to the first request)

Checking the tags is good, but the editor itself can check only for known tags (defined in the shortcuts).
WikiPad inserts only pair of tags - so they are always closed. If you have selected some text - the selection is surrounded by the tags. If you don't have selection - the tags are inserted and the cursor is positioned between the open and close tag.

Tool tips (and disabled toolbar buttons) are planed.

Also, I want to replace the edit control with AsmEdit - because of the highlighting - now the tags blends with the usefull text that makes it unreadable.

However, as I explained - I don't have enough time recently, so these changes may delay a little (or a little more). If someone wants to help - he is welcome. The project is simple enough, even for beginners.

Yes, but I was talking about the particular situation when somebody will change the text and casually delete some closing tags. Simple syntax checking would be a big advantage, IMO.


BTW, seems that if you save the text file, the default '.wiki' extension isn't added automatically, is it intended behavior?

No, it is simple missing feature.
