Didn't we already agree that date is just as good random incremented number as any other?

Naming the file with the date code is a separate issue - even if I had fourth number in the version that doesn't mean I would name the file accordingly. In the old days even releases like 1.xx.yy had file name fasm1xx.zip - only after I realized I've got plenty of space on server I allowed them to have have more digits in name. But I still do not see the point of storing all the history in separate files, as for me there is always just one version of all the components - the current one.

Of course there exists a workaround - write a PHP download wrapper that would serve the file with name automatically generated upon download. Not that I see why it would really help anyone, but that would be quite simple thing to do.

when do you plan to replace 'build symbols" by "build listing"?

i don't know at all how to do that, not meaning i never tryed to understand,
i still have the source a little modified in order to do so, but i miss a lot of knowledge (about win32 programming) to do it.
i even found that you ;commented the debug menu item? does it mean it is the build listing button?

Oh, I see, so someone who hacks into fasm's server in order to upload packages containing malicious code would have to increase version number accordingly and make a whatsnew entry.

The fact that fasm is open source does not mean that it is maintained in the same way as community-authored projects.

Well, I guess I'm really bad at sarcasm.
I mean: if someone already breaks into servers, he may as well update the version number etc. if that's what is needed to fool the fasm users. And there is no way for someone other than me to modify the sources without any hacking involved.
