Is there a mac version of the fasm compiler i can use? since i dont use windows much for gaming, but for just os development and software development, there isnt much of a difference between the switch to mac if all im doing is software development. i can do pretty much the same thing on a mac, but the big question..

is there a mac x86 version of the fasm compiler?

The libc version should work fine under a Mac..
All you'll have to do is link the fasm.o object with a linker.. I dont know if macs come with gcc/ld, or if you have to get it seperately..

But yeah, if you follow the same(ish) instructions as the BSD build in the libc version of fasm, then that should work for macs too (since it is internally a BSD kernel, and the whole system itself is basically a modified BSD with a new/shiny GUI (no offence mac users Wink))

I havent tried it (dont own a mac), but I see no reason why it shouldnt work..

Edit:
Actually, found this thread under the Unix heading:
http://board.flatassembler.net/topic.php?t=9954

Looks like its a little more work than just linking the object.. however, it looks like its not a huge amount of effort and rthelen wrote a nice post on how they did it which you should be able to follow.

rxantos also posted on page 2 of that thread with instructions on how to do it using a third-party tool to convert the object.. it may be easier or not.. but two ways for you to try.

Thanks alot Smile i just want to move over to mac, same computer, same x86 processor, and it would be great if the fasmt window loooked the same, as i wont be making programs that are suppose to runon the system, but for my os, so they wont run unlesss i run them from my os. so ill be set on that, but tother then that, ill give this a try Smile
