quite sure she already know in advance, Laughing

i don't have deep impression with her acting,

Take a look at the following link:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_accolades_received_by_Arrival

Just count the "Best Actress" nominations she has received for her role in Arrival and you may change your mind.

I saw Passengers last night. I overall liked it, i think it was adventurous and funny, the CGI part was awesome, plus there was this rad bartender dude. i knew he won't keep his mouth shut. Smile

Yes, the visual effects are top-notch. I especially like the creative design of the spaceship.

However, the story line just does not make much sense. For example, given that the spaceship travels at 50% of the speed of light, it should be well-protected and able to handle the worst-case collision scenarios with ease. Yet, its energy-based shield cannot even take the hit of a large asteroid!

A low-budget old-fashion horror movie that is actually fun to watch:

The Love Witch (2016)

I don't want the entire movie, just Jennifer Lawrence's swimming scenes.

just finish/finished watching passengers,

nice movie, no boring scenes, every moment seems packing with some actions, 1 hour 40 minutes maybe minus the ending credits, worth it!

i like the autodoc pod, i need one to survive eternally on earth Embarassed Embarassed Embarassed Embarassed

now one question, how many actors in this whole movie? Shocked Shocked Shocked
amazing right!!!!!

it proves that one could produce excellent movie with 3 to 4 people/human only!

One actor is good enough:

The Man Who Sleeps (1974)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0192718/

Moon (2009)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1182345/

And in the movie Prometheus there was a similar and very expensive autodoc system capable to perform any surgery for which (if i recall well the crew had no access to it). It seems that there can be no trip to the stars without some type of autodoc robot that fixes...almost everything.

That is another silly plot of the story line.

Think about it. There are 5000 passengers and hundreds of crew members on board. But there is JUST ONE Autodoc pod in the entire spaceship. So, if the Autodoc pod malfunctions, everyone on board is doomed. Does that make any sense?

Well, if there were 5000 autodocs that would be a surprise. Unfortunately some things will always be available for only a few (very few people), not for everyone. Even in space. Sad

If there were 10, or even 5, Autodoc pods in the spaceship, I would not complain about the arrangement.

One Autodoc pod for 5000+ people on board just does not make sense!

Obviously spacecraft and people are really really cheap and easy to replace. But those autodocs are just far too expensive and valuable to be putting more than one of them anywhere. They should feel lucky that they got the one they had. Razz

Exactly! This is a sad conclusion that derives from both movies. It is no coincidence.

If the Autodoc pod had built-in AI, your argument might be acceptable. But the pod is actually quite dumb -- the lead actress has to manually switch it to "resuscitation" mode so that it can revive the dead lead actor.

Perhaps I should just treat the movie as a comedy.

well i guess the reason only one autodoc is active or inside the ship because, the mission is, all those 5000 hibernated and reach homestead2 in another 90 or years, nobody is supposed to use that autodoc,

they probably built more autodoc after they reach homestead2, i guess so, since each autodoc requires a quite big room to be complete, i guess so,

Actually, the journey takes 120 years.

Since the passengers and the crew members are scheduled to wake up 4 months before landing, chances are that many of them may need access to the Autodoc pod. Having just one medical pod for 5000+ people just does not make any sense.

there are doctors in those 5000+, which could diagnose and give better treatment compare to autodoc,

autodoc is not so smart, as proved by lead actress, manual mode, Laughing

Hope that the hibernation pods of these doctors are unlike that of the Chief Deck Officer. Otherwise, ... Confused
