As far as I remember I'd got a similar problem when some of my resource data wasn't aligned by 4. But you are using a separate section. Confused

Another guess, did you try without hInstance argument?

I called my app setup.asm, and a copy setup_test.asm and it didn't work.
Now, after making a copy with a name test.asm and xyz.asm it works. The same code.

Can maybe anybody explain me why??? Was has the name to do with the compilation???

I lost a whole day with this bullsh....
