Recently, I accidentially typed into a the command prompt (a bash shell with completion enabled):

Code:

fasm test.asm test.asm

and made fasm overwrite the source file. Hopefully I had a backup.

Seriously, I would like to change the behaviour of fasm and make it not overwrite files that are also specifed as source files. Or should I just be more careful when typing?

Yeah, there should warnings on guns saying "Do not point at your own head and pull the trigger".

I started using version control just to make my environment easier. If you use it and you delete something or mess something up you can get your previous saved version back.
